Job Description
The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care within a crisis-situation environment to patients with mental illness, adhering to College Standards and the Mental Health Act. This role involves developing and implementing treatment plans, leading and guiding staff, managing crises, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The RN will be responsible for direct patient care and potentially mediation.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Province of Ontario
- BScN or equivalent degree (preferred)
- Certified in psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing (asset)
- Understanding of the Mental Health Act and relevant legislation
- CPR, WHIMIS, Fire Safety and Evacuation Training
- CPI and ASSIST training (asset)
- Recognition of leadership skills
- Effective communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Valid drivers’ license
- Knowledge of relevant legislation
