Texas Children's is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Organizational Resilience to advance its enterprise-wide resilience strategy and lead system-level Business Continuity and Emergency Management programs.
Requirements
- Support executive leadership in the continued development and maturation of the Organizational Resilience and Emergency Management program
- Serve as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to senior leadership—guiding mitigation actions, shaping resilience investments, and informing operational risk decisions
- Provide leadership continuity as the designated back-up to the SVP of Facilities Operations
- Coordinate closely with department leadership to uphold governance standards, evolve enterprise resilience frameworks, and drive continuous program improvement
- Represent the resilience function in executive forums and strategic planning discussions
- Lead cross-departmental efforts to identify synergies, close gaps, and optimize system-wide resilience
- Provide leadership during crisis events, including response coordination, mitigation efforts, and post-event analysis
- Implement the Incident Command Structure as directed by senior leadership
- Serve as Liaison Officer or other command roles during emergencies
- Regularly participate in the on-call rotation for System Crisis Management
- Prepare comprehensive After Action Reports (AARs) and oversee implementation of mitigation actions
- Provide strategic direction for Business Continuity programs across Texas Children’s, ensuring alignment with CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards
- Develop and maintain relevant policies, procedures, and training programs
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) for critical sites and functions
- Lead organization-wide training, education, and BCP exercises to embed a culture of readiness
- Report Business Continuity program status and metrics to Executive Council
- Partner with Information Systems on application recovery and alignment of technology resilience with business needs
- Advance resilience tools, dashboards, and technology platforms through collaboration with technology, data, and operational teams
- Direct the Emergency Management program, serving as chair of the Emergency Management Committee
- Develop and review emergency preparedness and response policies and procedures
- Oversee strategic planning, educational programs, and organization-wide drills
- Support Executive Council on emergency management priorities and performance
- Act as a liaison to Incident Command Centers during emergencies
- Lead physical threat risk assessments (e.g., extreme weather, power outages, flooding) and drive mitigation strategies
- Represent Texas Children’s in regional healthcare preparedness coalitions and industry groups
- Engage with external partners and industry groups to advance system preparedness and best practices
- Complete timely performance appraisals for direct reports
- Ensure onboarding and orientation of new staff within required timelines
- Develop and modify job descriptions as needed
- Maintain performance planning documents, action plans, and departmental goals
