Senior System Engineering Specialist

Telesat, a leading global satellite operator, is seeking a Senior System Engineering Specialist to join their dynamic team working on the revolutionary Lightspeed LEO satellite network. This role will be pivotal in the realization of the Lightspeed constellation system, encompassing system and architecture design, requirements definition, and performance tracking. You will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure alignment with project goals and customer needs, and provide technical leadership to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• 15 years of proven experience in satellite system architecture and design
• Strong knowledge of satellite communication protocols, orbital mechanics, and space systems
• Experience with software defined satellite communication payloads
• Familiarity with regulatory bodies and space industry standards
• Creative problem-solver with thorough attention to detail
• Highly collaborative team-player
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners /suppliers
• Experience with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementation
• Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs and resources
• Fluent in English, written and oral
