Job Description
The Peer Specialist facilitates engagement with teams by building connections with participants and families. This role involves outreach, building community awareness, encouraging help-seeking, and serving as a bridge between team members and participants. The specialist also develops wellness tools and influences team culture to promote a positive recovery environment.
Requirements
- NYCPS Peer Certification or Provisional Certification (Recovery Coach, Peer Specialist, Family Peer Advocate)
- Understanding of the community and available resources
- Positive and productive progress towards own recovery
- Good interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to disclose recovery story (appropriately)
- Excellent judgment
- Adherence to on-call cell phone system
- Significant travel to visit clients
