Electrical Engineering Internship

Steel Dynamics is seeking an Electrical Engineering Internship, focused on a 650,000-tonne low-carbon recycled aluminum flat rolled mill located in Columbus, MS. This internship offers hands-on experience working directly with operators and maintenance teams, applying engineering principles to equipment and processes in a state-of-the-art facility. Interns will assist with reliability, safety, upgrade projects, and troubleshooting, gaining practical skills before graduation. It's a balanced position combining office work and real-world experience.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Degree program or experience including electrical machinery, power distribution, PLCs/automation systems, or power electronics.
• Experience with HMI programming, logic development, and monitoring systems.
