Manager, Protection and Control Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Manager for our Protection and Control Engineering team. This role involves overseeing engineers responsible for relay protection design, including selecting protection schemes, communication mediums, performing settings calculations, and developing settings.

Requirements

• Manage and lead a team of engineers responsible for protection and control engineering functions
• Serve as a technical authority and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in protection and control engineering
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support adherence to applicable NERC PRC standards and NPCC criteria
• Manage execution of corrective action plans identified and recommend design standard changes
• Support protection system maintenance and testing programs by providing technical expertise
• Interface with other engineering disciplines, operations, asset management, maintenance, and external organizations
• Represent NYPA in external industry forums, working groups, and committees
• Develops staff in key areas of expertise to support protection design and testing, system analysis, and compliance
• Manage employees including performance management, salary administration, succession planning and workload balancing
• Support budgeting and resource planning
