This is a key senior leadership role within the Ministry, offering the opportunity to lead strategic policy development, strengthen our policy monitoring and evaluation systems, and enable the Ministry to develop, and deliver on, its strategic priorities.
Requirements
- Leading Ministry-wide strategic policy development, including three-yearly strategic assessments, annual environmental scans, Long Term Insights Briefings and cross-system strategic analysis and evaluation.
- Overseeing MFAT's Strategic Framework, Strategic Intentions and enterprise business planning system, ensuring alignment between strategy, planning and performance.
- Ensuring that the Ministry has effective strategic performance systems, including governance reporting and oversight of the Annual Report.
- Leading and championing MFAT's policy practice approach, including the International Policy Framework (IPF), policy capability development, quality reviews and engagement with the DPMC-led Policy Project.
- Representing MFAT domestically and internationally, contributing expert strategic and policy insight.
- Strengthening connections across the Ministry, other government agencies, foreign ministries and external research and policy communities.
