Principal Data Scientist

MediaAlpha is a customer acquisition solutions provider seeking a Principal Data Scientist to own the highest-stakes problems. The role involves partnering with product, engineering, and executive leadership to architect and produce advanced ML/AI solutions, coach a team of data scientists, and contribute to business impact. It's a hybrid position with a focus on technical direction and mentorship.

Requirements

• 10+ years of work experience in a Data Scientist or related role
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, business, finance, math, engineering, statistics) or equivalent experience
• Proven experience leading cross-functional projects and working collaboratively with tech/engineering teams
• Demonstrated success deploying impactful code (e.g., predictive models, date pipelines, algorithms) to production environments with quantifiable business impact
• Expertise in applying statistical techniques to real-world business problems (e.g. designing tests/experiments and evaluating results)
• Proven track record of training and mentoring data scientists
• Advanced in Python and SQL
• Exceptional analytical skills and ability to synthesize large and disparate data sets
• Self-starter who takes initiative on all projects and strives to build and improve upon existing processes
