Student Advisor - BHHS

The Student Advisor will work with high school students who are over-age and under-credited or have dropped out of high school to help them re-engage in education and career development. The Advisor will provide academic support, career and education exploration, work preparation, skills development, and internships to help students achieve their goals.

Requirements

• Conduct intake interviews with students and family members
• Meet with students in a group or individual setting to assist them in their academic, career and personal goals
• Conduct daily attendance outreach via phone, remotely, or socially distant as needed
• Consult with teachers and provide feedback to students on academic performance
• Maintain student charts and records to ensure milestones are being met
• Refer students to academic and support services as needed
• Attend administrative meetings, program training and staff development
• Educating students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing
• Participate in civic and community building efforts and activities as assigned
• Schedule & program student schedules in accordance with NYC DOE graduation requirements
• Arrange and participate in special events, student-based projects and extracurricular activities
