East Side House Settlement is one of New York City’s oldest non‑profit social service agencies, founded in 1891 and now headquartered in the South Bronx. It delivers a wide range of programs—from education and workforce development to health and housing support—to over 14,000 residents across 29 sites in the Bronx and Northern Manhattan each year. With a workforce of more than 600 full‑time and part‑time professionals and an annual budget exceeding $30 million, the organization leverages substantial private philanthropy to sustain its community‑centered services. Its long history, deep roots in the neighborhood, and integrated, multidisciplinary approach distinguish it as a leading catalyst for social improvement in one of the city’s most underserved districts.
