Job Description
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) is seeking a Staff Attorney to provide legal representation and advocacy for immigrants. The role involves assisting clients with immigration benefits, representing them in hearings and proceedings, and engaging in community-based systemic reform. The Staff Attorney will also supervise paralegals, provide consultations, and participate in community outreach events. CHIRLA champions freedom of mobility, human rights, and participatory democracy for diverse immigrant families and individuals.
Requirements
- Active attorney license and good standing with a State Bar association within the United States
- Active admission and good standing in the California State Bar is preferred
- Fluency or high proficiency in the Spanish language and/or other languages
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, progressive social change, empowering communities’ rights and justice
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Must be flexible to work early morning, evenings and Saturdays
