Job Description
ID 2022-1865 is seeking an Inland Captain/Pilot to lead tug and barge operations. The role involves safe towing, maintenance, and observation of vessels in various conditions. Responsibilities include safety inspections, vessel management, and supervising deckhands. Knowledge of safety procedures and firefighting training is crucial.
Requirements
- Valid Master of Inland Towing with Western Rivers and Radar Observer endorsement
- Experience operating on the Port Allen Route and South of Baton Rouge
- Coast Guard approved firefighting training
- Valid first aid certificate
- Valid CPR training
- Instruction of deckhands
- Communication skills in English and clear directions
- Ability to train and evaluate subordinates
- Ability to use cargo information cards and safety data sheets
- Completion of HAZWOPER training within 30 days of hire
- Ability to live in confined spaces and work long hours
- Physical fitness to pull heavy lines/hoses, lift, and perform other tasks
