Job Description
ID 2023-1949 is seeking a Captain to manage the safe and efficient transportation of assigned barges and cargo. The role involves administrative, supervisory, and safety-related tasks. Responsibilities include vessel maintenance, crew training, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Requires valid Coast Guard license and other required certifications.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a captain onboard a tug
- Valid Coast Guard license with a radar observer endorsement
- Valid first aid/CPR certificate
- Complete HAZWOPER training within 90 days of hire
- Must be able to direct, evaluate, and correct performance of subordinates
- Ability to train mate and deck hand in safe performance of duties
- Ability to fair evaluate subordinates
- Ability to learn and make application of safety awareness, injury prevention, and firefighting
- Conduct inspections and monitor tug/barge maintenance activities
- Valid state driver's license
