Job Description
This position is for a Second-In-Command for a tug and barge, responsible for safe operation, maintenance, and instruction of the vessel. The role involves operating towlines, inspecting the vessel, and supervising deckhands. The candidate needs to be physically capable of handling heavy loads, climbing aboard barges, and operating heavy equipment.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mate or Master on an ATB unit, oil barge experience preferred.
- Valid Coast Guard license, Minimum 1600Ton Mate, Near Coastal with radar observer endorsement.
- GMDSS, ECDIS, Advanced Firefighting
- STCW 95 certification
- PIC (Barge)
- Vessel Security Officer certification
- Valid State Driver’s License
- 3+ years of barge experience preferred
- Ability to operate in confined spaces
- Valid first aid certificate
- CPR training
- HAZWOPER training within 30 days of hire
- Valid HAZWOPER training within 30 days of hire
- Valid medical certification for TRAZES
