Job Description
This position is for a Captain responsible for the safe transportation of the assigned barge(s) and maintenance of tug and barge operations. The role involves overseeing vessel safety, docking, administrative functions, and crew management. Regular work on boats and barges is required, and the Captain must perform duties in compliance with regulations.
Requirements
- Oversees safety of vessel.
- Direct crew in performance of drills.
- Determine the need for and assign lookouts as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Company policies and regulations.
- Prepare, monitor, and update vessel work lists and maintenance schedules.
- Inspect cleanliness of the vessel and barge.
- Purchase food for crew.
- Inspect inspections and monitor tug/barge maintenance activities.
- Assign work projects for crew.
- Inspect cleanliness of the vessel and barge.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
