Pipefitter

Pipe Fitters are assigned to remove, target, fabricate, repair, install system per drawings and test marine piping systems onboard ships in various stages of repair and modernization.

Requirements

• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine piping system requirements
• Remove, target and fabricate new piping spools/assembly sections from existing conditions
• Cut, thread, and bend pipes to fit specific measurements and angles
• Assemble and connect pipes, fittings, and valves using various techniques, such as welding, soldering, and brazing
• Test piping systems for leaks and other defects
• Repair and replace damaged or corroded pipes, fittings, and valves
• Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as welders and electricians, to ensure proper installation and functioning of piping systems
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with piping systems
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and inspecting pipes and fittings
