Job Description
Aspire Public Schools, a leading open-enrollment charter school system in California, is seeking a College Academic Counselor to oversee the delivery of academic counseling services in assigned secondary schools. This role involves implementing a comprehensive school counseling program, providing preventive services, and collaborating with other support staff to support student success in college and career readiness. The College Academic Counselor will develop individualized student plans and provide support to students across all grades and experience levels.
Requirements
- Up to date knowledge of current state and federal laws governing counseling and adherence to those laws.
- Up to date knowledge of postsecondary program admissions and financial aid requirements and processes.
- Systematically document complex processes, conversations, etc in clear, easily-understandable formats and language.
- Minimum educational level
- Pupil Personnel Services credential in School Counseling
- Experience working with parents and families, especially those from under resourced communities
- Experience working with diverse student populations including first-generation, low-income, etc.
