Principal Data Engineer (m/w/d) - Schweiz

Alexander Thamm GmbH is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to join their team in Switzerland. The role involves conceptualizing, building, and developing Big Data and Analytics platforms, creating ETL/ELT pipelines, implementing DevOps and MLOps processes, and providing technical leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and cloud technologies, with experience in Python, Scala, and SQL.

Requirements

• Successfully completed studies in computer science, data science, computer science or a comparable mathematical-natural science subject
• At least 4-6 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
• Strong communication skills in German, Swiss German and English
• Very good knowledge of modern cloud technologies (especially Azure, ideally also AWS or GCP)
• In-depth knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Sound programming skills, especially in Python, Spark and / or Scala
• Several years of experience with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Kafka
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK
• Strong communication skills and confident appearance in presentation and consulting situations
• Proactive, solution-oriented way of working
