Assist project engineers and application engineers in the concepting, design and development of new and/or modified robotic system drawings/documentation. Prepare and analyze concepts, sketches and complete detail and layout drawings on a variety of complex automated systems.
Requirements
- Must be able to use multiple features of Yaskawa Motoman Epicor system including the Case Entry, Engineering Workbench, Purchasing and Planning modules such as Windchill.
- Determine customer needs from specifications and documentation for design requirements.
- Must follow ISO procedures as the job requires and provide feedback to improve our processes.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of detailed and comprehensive layouts and generate bills of material.
- Evaluate component sizes, weights, tolerances and characteristics to meet customer design requirements and cost/performance objectives.
- Attend, originate and be responsible for internal and customer design review meetings as needed.
- Assist in the analysis of test results and suggestions from engineering meetings and implement the changes required.
- Identify and recommend improvements and incorporate necessary changes into robotic system designs.
- Prepare and approve complete and accurate production release drawings and complex assemblies of production equipment by AutoCAD, EPlan, and/or Solid Works.
- May sign off ECR's for acceptance/incorporation.
- Participate with project engineer, other departments, customers and vendors to analyze and resolve problems with existing robotic systems.
- Recommend or incorporate design changes as required.
- Provide sound design solutions to engineering sketches and customer needs and determine material.
- Obtain, accumulate, review and analyze technical data from various sources.
- Perform various related engineering duties to assure satisfactory fulfillment of contract or project requirements.
- May guide, train and review the work of designers and drafting personnel and engineering co-ops.
- Responsible for drawing, designing and approving equipment assembly, electrical and/or pneumatic schematics.
- Must be proficient in 3D modeling and computer design simulation technologies (MotoSIM, FEA, DENEB, and SolidWorks).
- Must understand DFMA mechanical techniques and have strong understanding of manufacturing procedures and practices.
- Evaluate designs for compliance with industry standards.
- Must be able to consider quality issues and customer satisfaction in design projects, identify and respond to Q.A. issues.
- Travel is required on an infrequent basis. Must have a valid driver's license and full coverage automobile insurance.
