Job Description
Waymo is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to design and create high-performance custom silicon for its fully autonomous drive system. This role will involve defining safety architectures, conducting safety analysis, fault injection testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The position focuses on the development and verification of safety mechanisms and processes related to autonomous vehicles, aligning with industry standards like ISO 26262.
Requirements
- MS or higher in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent
- 8 years technical experience in Functional Safety Engineering for automotive
- Deep understanding of automotive functional safety standards (e.g. ISO26262)
- Proficiency in safety engineering tools and methods for analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA)
- Tool scripting and automation experience
- Expertise with automotive hardware architectures and safety mechanisms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, ability to work independently and collaboratively
