Job Description
Protective Service Officers (PSOs) provide armed security and access control at U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) facilities in the Washington, DC metro area. PSOs deter threats, protect personnel and property, and respond to incidents. This position is a key part of DOJ's security program, requiring a US Citizen with a high school diploma or GED. All PSOs are deputized under the U.S. Marshals Service Special Deputation Program.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- 21 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED
- 18+ months of prior law enforcement experience
- Federal/state corrections academy graduation with firearms certification
- US Marshals Service Special Deputation Program eligibility
- Must pass DOJ physical exam and agility test annually
- Must pass DOJ firearms qualification every six months
- Current First Aid, CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, and NARCAN certification
- Proficient English skills
