The Director of Capital Planning is responsible for the strategic management of the full scope of the capital budgeting and planning process at WFU.
Requirements
- Oversees and coordinates the annual capital budget and five-year capital plan
- Provides financial support related to capital projects and serves as a resource and expert on capital budgeting issues and processes
- Collaborates closely with the Controller’s office to provide decision support for evaluating University capital projects
- Strategizes with the AVP Budget & Financial Planning to provide recommendations to the SRVPFA and the University’s executive leadership team
- Reviews and approves all capital expenditures against approved capital plans
- Develops and maintains capital budget policies and procedures and participates in the capital planning oversight committee
- Conducts ROI analysis on capital projects and forecasts project impacts on the operating margin
- Prepares capital planning presentations to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees (BOT)
- Collaborates with executives and stakeholders to ensure alignment
- Responsible for development of the capital planning software, identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvements
- Verifies compliance of legal contracts with approved BOT resolutions
