Specialist II – Logistics and Trade Compliance is responsible to administer logistics and trade compliance function and its requirements to ensure highly efficient and effective cargo movement for global operations.
Requirements
- Administers the company’s import / export compliance program.
- Works with the logistics and trade compliance group to ensure controls are in place that comply with the company’s legal and regulatory obligations.
- Mobilizes and manages internal and external logistics resources to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries of required materials at the lowest total cost.
- Monitors worldwide import and export operations related to the area of responsibility.
- Provides responsive logistics services for emergency situations.
- Manages vendor relationship and management practices for logistics providers.
- Identifies inefficiencies and areas of growth within the current distribution network to continuously improve the balance between the level and cost of service.
- Manages and reduces logistics cost via freight rate benchmarks, freight consolidations opportunities, process flow reviews and assist with annual freight rate negotiations.
- Monitors market trends and freight / shipping index.
- Ensures company benefits adjustments in market pricing.
- Maintains daily follow-up of export & import files to ensure efficient, cost effective and timely delivery of the materials to its destination.
- Controls documents necessary for importation and exportation in the various countries (invoices + packing list + certificates of origin, etc.) by working with freight forwarders and/or carriers.
- Works to resolve issues with customs, tax exemption, quarantine inspection, biosecurity requirements, and/or quarterly filing that agents and suppliers may face.
- Assists with special projects in terms of budgeting logistic costs and clarifying procedures.
- Collaborates with forwarding agents / shipping agents / customs brokers / packers / carriers / rigs or area offices to resolve any issues that may arise.
- Audits freight forwarders, customs agents and brokers regarding the record keeping of customs import and export documents based on their compliance with local regulations.
- Ensures customs rules and regulations are complied with each supplier delivering equipment to freight forwarders for onward shipping.
- Provides assistance and follow-up for all equipment imported under the temporary importation status.
- Assists Manager – Logistics and Trade Compliance in discussions about rates with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and agents.
- Coordinates with the trade compliance department to make sure all equipment is fully in line with customs and tax rules and regulations.
- Prepares the budgets for large or out-of-gauge shipments on requests of operations or projects.
- Administers the company’s import and export compliance program.
- Attends operations meetings for planning purposes.
- Monitors and executes on hand reports to align over, short, and damage (OSD) recovery and key performance indicator (KPI) measurements.
- Identifies inefficiencies and areas of growth within the current distribution network to continuously improve the balance between the level and cost of service.
- Conducts monthly governance meetings with the freight forwarders.
- Performs quarterly audits of intermediary warehouse.
- Audits freight invoices.
- Monitors and aids freight forwarders on hand carry procedures.
- Expands the knowledge assistance on regions for the customs, compliance, and agent’s aid scope.
