Job Description
The University of Maine is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop cellulose-based recyclable food packaging. The position involves developing base papers, films, and barrier coatings using bio-derived materials and focusing on packaging food with specific barrier properties. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in a related field and experience with lignocellulosic materials and bio-based coatings.
Requirements
- PhD in Food Engineering, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science and Engineering/Forestry, or similarly related fields by date of hire.
- Prior research experience related to lignocellulosic materials, their processing and value-added product development.
- Prior research experience in biobased films and coatings for use in recyclable food packaging.
- Demonstrated strong ability to develop reports/manuscripts.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
