Planner I, II, or III

Performs professional and skilled technical work with an emphasis on current planning and zoning, and related work as apparent or assigned. This position is designated as essential during emergency or disaster situations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in urban/land use planning, public administration, or a related field
• Minimal (less than 1 year) experience in urban/community planning, GIS, development/site plan review, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Possession of North Carolina Certified Zoning Official certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
• Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina
• Certified Floodplain Manager accreditation, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
