Consultancy for Expertise in Artificial Intelligence in the Education Sector

Team4Tech is seeking a consultant to provide AI technical expertise to a cohort of organizations in Africa, helping them scale their AI solutions in education. The consultant will participate in planning and oversight meetings, contribute to course development, and provide coaching and technical assistance to partner organizations.

Requirements

• Advanced Degree: Master's degree in a relevant field such as Educational Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or International Development with a focus on technology.
• Relevant Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience successfully designing, piloting, or scaling technology/AI solutions within the education sector.
• Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in at least three of the following AI/EdTech domains: Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI for educational content creation and tutoring, Adaptive Learning Systems and personalized learning pathways, Data privacy, security, and ethical AI deployment, Familiarity with open-source EdTech platforms and infrastructure relevant to low-connectivity environments.
• Regional Experience: Significant, verifiable experience working on AI or EdTech projects in one or more African countries or regions.
• Non-Profit and/or Social Enterprise Experience: Prior experience consulting for or working directly with NGOs or social enterprises on technology strategy or program implementation.
• Training and Coaching: Proven ability to develop and deliver effective, accessible training and coaching programs for NGO staff and non-technical local educators.
• Contextual Understanding: Deep understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities for expanding EdTech and AI in the African educational landscape.
• Stakeholder Relations: Experience collaborating with government officials and understanding of how Ministries of Education (or similar structures) typically adopt new educational technologies is preferred.
• Planning: Understanding of how to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans to expand EdTech or AI solutions at a larger scale.
• Communication: Excellent cross-cultural communication and listening skills. Fluency in written and spoken English.
