Field Mechanic position at Sumter Utilities, Inc. seeking a Diesel Technician with a high school diploma or equivalent, certification in ASE's T-series, CPR, and forklift certification, and a Class A CDL. The ideal candidate will be able to travel long distances on short notice and have strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Tech school for Diesel/Automotive certification
- Certification in ASE's T-series, CPR, first aid, and forklift certification
- Class A CDL
- Ability to travel long distances on short notice
- Ability to recognize and identify harmonious or contrasting combinations
- Ability to use functional reasoning and apply rational judgement in performing diversified work activities
- Ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory and/or judgmental criteria
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate percentages, fractions and decimals
- Ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information such as work orders, hazardous materials lists, safety manuals and procedures, time sheets, vehicle logs, accident reports, technical operating manuals, procedures, and guidelines
- Ability to explain, demonstrate and clarify to others within well established policies, procedures and standards, as well as the ability to follow specific instructions and respond to simple requests from others
- Ability to exert heavy physical effort in moderate to heavy work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds
