*Assistant Attorney General (Government Services Section)

The Oregon Department of Justice (DOJ) seeks up to two full-time attorneys to join our Government Services team of twelve accomplished and collegial general counsel attorneys. The successful applicant(s) will work primarily within our Public Safety practice group providing advice, guidance and trainings to the Oregon State Police, the Oregon Department of Corrections, as well as other state agencies.

Requirements

• Active membership in good standing with the Oregon State Bar by the time of appointment
• At least one year of experience advising or litigating on behalf of governments, or equivalent, in Oregon, or elsewhere
• Strong drafting, research, and relational and communication skills with both clients and colleagues
• Demonstrated ability to handle a full workload and communicate within a team collaboratively and effectively
• Demonstrated ability to accurately and concisely summarize complex issues in plain language
• Strong work ethic and a demonstrated commitment to public service
• Willingness to travel within Oregon as needed and willingness to take client calls outside of normal working hours
