As a Development Engineer - Mechanical at Signify, you will translate customer requirements into functional specifications, define mechanical design, and apply design principles for cost, performance, and manufacturability. You will also design and adapt for fast-prototype verification, deliver design drawings, and release mechanical parts for product release. The ideal candidate has a mechanical background, knowledge of material properties, and experience with mechanical design software. Good command of English is required.
Requirements
- Translate customer requirements into functional specifications (mechanical related)
- Define the mechanical design based on the functional specification in cooperation with system engineers, electronic engineers, thermal engineer, process engineer and safety engineer
- Apply design principles for cost, performance, manufacturability (parts making and assembly), heat management, packing, compliance with internal and external standards
- Use tool (like UG) to design the mechanical structure, include electronic components design
- Design and adaptation for fast-prototype for verification of concept and/or build up demonstration
- Deliver design drawings (2D, 3D) and other mechanical documents (BOM, dimension measurement solution, 110sheet) per request of project manager, purchasing and marketing
- Release mechanical parts together with tooling for product, process, and production release
- Apply agreed procedures of project management
- Support process engineer, development quality engineer and supplier quality engineer to solve problem once request
- Actively participate in Mechanical Competence meeting to share learning, discuss issues, and work on long term program
- Scout for new material, component, technology, supplier for better quality, lower cost and new feature
- Generate innovative ideas/IPs together with other colleagues to help Philips build up strong position in SSL business
