Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer position available at Scotiabank, supporting the development team in delivering high-quality solutions for the Global Insurance Creditor domain. The role involves contributing to API implementation, backend/frontend support, and bug fixes, as well as leading React development and Spring Boot development. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, and 5+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, and modern backend frameworks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related discipline
• 5+ years’ experience with Java, Spring Boot, and modern backend frameworks such as Node.js, Express.js, PHP
• 5+ years’ experience with React, React Native, Next.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, SASS, Tailwind, Bootstrap, Semantic UI
• 5+ years’ experience working with Java/J2EE. Java 8 experience preferred. Familiarity with multiple external Java frameworks is a plus
• Experience with RESTful APIs, Microservices architecture, and API Gateway
• Strong experience with GCP (Google Cloud Platform)
• Database experience with PostGreSQL and Redis (session/cache), MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (Jenkins/GitHub Actions), and Git
• Experience with automated unit testing (Junits)
• Knowledge of security best practices (HTTPS/TLS, OAuth authentication, API security)
• Language fluency in English
