Job Description
Samtec, Inc. is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, implement, and support control systems for advanced manufacturing equipment, including automation projects. The role involves overseeing all controls-related aspects of automation, from initial scoping to detailed design, software development, commissioning, and long-term support. This position is responsible for ensuring reliable, sustainable, and scalable systems that optimize performance and cost.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience as a controls engineer working on automated processes
- Operational knowledge of servo motors, stepper motors, motion controllers, temperature controllers, pneumatic controls, control relays, sensors, and operators interfaces
- Motion Controller programming experience
- PLC programming experience
- Knowledge of PID loop control and tuning
- Experience reading and developing electrical schematics
- Experience with common industrial, IoT, and motion bus protocols (e.g., Modbus, MQTT/OPC-UA, EtherCAT/EthernetIP)
