Job Description
The Housing Specialist provides direct assistance to Schoolhouse Link clients to secure safe, stable housing and affordable housing options.
Requirements
- Provide client assessment and support
- Serve as system navigator to address intake and assessment of homeless families and unaccompanied homeless youth.
- Develop and implement individual housing plans based on client goals and available resources.
- Assist client in completing rental applications, securing necessary documentation and negotiating lease terms.
- Conduct monthly in-home visits with young adults.
- Educate young adults on life skills related to securing and maintaining appropriate housing.
- Establish and maintain relationships with landlords, property owners and low-income housing.
- Collaborate with case managers and other service providers to ensure that clients have the necessary resources and supports for long-term stability.
- Complete and submit required Housing Financial Authority and CDBG documentation according to contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, housing searches, placements and outcomes.
