The Construction Trainer will provide on-site training and supervision to program participants in the construction of affordable housing and related projects, teaching marketable construction skills while contributing to meaningful community projects.
Requirements
- Teach construction skills including demolition, framing, interior work, carpentry, etc.
- Provide hands-on instruction in basic to advanced construction skills
- Teach safe procedures for use and handling of equipment, tools, and clean-up of the construction area
- Collaborate with program staff to integrate academic learning with construction activities
- Monitor participants' progress, provide feedback, and document skill development
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and community partners to ensure projects meet quality and compliance standards
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials
- Serve as a mentor and role model, encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and professional work habits
