Public Rights Project seeks to hire a Staff Attorney to join the Election Protection Hub (EPH) to support local elections officials in protecting the voting rights of their residents and securing safe and fair elections.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in a jurisdiction of the United States
- At least 4 years of relevant experience as an attorney
- Election law and/or election administration experience is strongly encouraged, but not required
- Prior experience working in AZ, CA, GA, MI, NC, NV, NY, PA, TX, WI, and VA state courts and/or their corresponding federal circuits is preferred
- Litigation experience is preferred, but not required
- Prior experience with remote work in large teams in support of a fast-moving campaign-like program
- Experience working with state and local government officials is a plus
- Outstanding writing and editing skills, including drafting and editing complex briefs and legal analysis
- Ability to analyze and explain issues of election, state, and constitutional law
- Team player who can work with government partners, co-counsel, community-based organizations, and other advocates, as well as internal teams
- Outstanding judgment about both legal issues and strategy
- Strong ability to present legal and technical issues to internal and external audiences
- Display a positive and respectful attitude, work well with diverse people and communities, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening ability
- Ability to support public interest litigation
- A belief in the power of state and local government to make positive change in the world
- A passionate commitment to economic, racial, and gender justice
