Poliigon is seeking an experienced Material Artist with a proven track record of creating realistic, production-ready procedural textures in Substance Designer. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for micro-detail, a deep understanding of physically based rendering (PBR), and the ability to match or exceed the level of quality showcased in Poliigon’s material library.
Requirements
- Strong portfolio demonstrating procedural texture creation in Substance Designer
- Deep understanding of PBR principles and the ability to reproduce real-world material properties with accuracy
- Keen eye for surface micro-details (roughness variation, edge wear, subsurface scattering hints, etc.)
- Experience preparing photoscanned textures and converting them into seamless materials
- Basic navigation skills in Blender or similar 3D applications (for testing and previewing materials)
- Ability to evaluate strengths/limitations of different workflows (e.g., when to use Designer vs. Sampler)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects
- Ability to collaborate across time zones (PST preferred)
- Reliable, fast internet for uploading/downloading high-resolution assets
