Coordinates and observes work for general conformance of contract documents. Coordinates and observes the work of construction contractors assigned to perform construction contract administration and oversight work at NYPA or Customer facilities.
Requirements
- Provide lead construction engineer function for a wide range of large or complex projects and programs
- Manage construction projects and provide technical oversight for all, in accordance with applicable industry standards
- Perform field visits to support constructability reviews, inspections, evaluations, and testing
- Independently coordinate cross disciplinary activities for the successful development and execution of projects
- Provide a wide range of expertise in the selection, interpretation and application of codes, standards and procedures
- Set internal standards and procedures
- Perform inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical, mechanical, structural equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification and troubleshooting
- Recommend improvements to the design and construction
- Manage the technical and commercial aspects of construction management projects performed by external design entities
- Represent the Authority at industry conferences committees or task forces
- Provide direction and review for the construction personnel or contractor/consultant staff in the development of the project construction activities
- Mentor and provide guidance for junior construction engineers
- Advise NYPA supervisor as to the recommended disposition of complex equipment dilemmas and construction compliance issues
- Provide construction oversight and evaluation of various equipment and systems from the perspective of a design engineer for proper installation, problem identification and troubleshooting or improvement
- Liaison between the Project Management division and the operating facility, and between Headquarters and on-site staff
