Software Engineer (L5) – Commerce Data Engineering, Foundations Team

We are seeking a Software Engineer (L5) to join the Commerce Data Engineering team at Netflix. The ideal candidate will have experience building distributed services, data platforms, and data frameworks, and be proficient in at least one major language on the JVM stack.

Requirements

• Architect, build, and maintain distributed services and frameworks (gRPC/REST) that enhance the efficiency, reliability, and observability of data pipelines.
• Develop tools and automation that improve data health, processing efficiency, and the productivity of data engineers.
• Champion best practices in data quality, system health, and observability, ensuring our solutions are robust, reliable, and scalable.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, and engineering, to deeply understand business needs and deliver impactful solutions.
• Drive innovation by exploring and implementing new technologies and methodologies that keep Netflix at the forefront of data engineering.
• Own the systems you build, from design to deployment and ongoing operations, ensuring high availability and operational excellence.
