Job Description
Merlin is a venture-backed aerospace startup focused on creating a non-human pilot to enable reduced crew and uncrewed flight. They are seeking a situational awareness lead to drive the technical direction and deliver capabilities supporting perception and situational awareness systems for airborne autonomy. This role involves defining research projects, leadership of software development, and collaboration with multiple teams to solve aviation challenges.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related subject.
- Professional experience developing software for airborne autonomous systems.
- Subject matter expert in sensor modalities (EO/IR cameras, radar, LIDAR, GPS/INS, ADS-B, etc.).
- Experience with state estimation and Kalman filtering.
- Experience with multi-sensor and multi-modal fusion.
- Proficiency in Python and C++.
- Experience with simulation software and product development cycle.
- Experience with proposal writing and technical roadmap development.
