Principal Design Engineer will lead and work in a skilled team on a wide range of National Grid, SSEN & SPEN substation projects. The position will focus on the project and tender engineering and its interfaces and scope of work involved in HV - substation design and construction projects, within the Linxon EPC and technical lead of the electro-mechanical design of substation to meet customer needs, legislative demands and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor or master’s in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Extensive years substation engineering experience in utilities
- Knowledge of required NG, SSEN & SPEN requirements and standards
- Principal designer (PD) / LCDAE certification from National Grid
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it
- Result orientated team player with a proactive approach
- Excellent in communication, to interact with external and internal parties at all levels in a multi-cultural environment
- Expert knowledge in Substation design and engineering, Layouts, Primary design & calculations, Grounding & Lightning design, Steel design inputs, transformers, HV & MV Switchgear systems
- Knowledge of system studies like load flow, short circuit calculation; Single Line Diagrams, CT/VT calculations, Auxiliary Power Systems, power cables
- Knowledge of secondary engineering, protection and control system
- Experience in Installation & Commissioning is a plus
- Strong in MS Office, knowledge in MicroStation and AutoCAD is required
- Fluency in English – both written and spoken
- Availability to travel 25 % of the time (domestic/international travel)
