Barnet Council is seeking a Technical Trading Standards Officer to deliver professional services that safeguard health, wellbeing, and consumer rights. The role involves investigating complaints, conducting inspections, leading intelligence-driven enforcement activities, preparing legal cases, advising businesses and consumers, and staying up to date with legislation and best practice.
Requirements
- Trading Standards or Consumer Affairs qualification (or willingness to achieve this in post)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a regulatory or investigative role
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws and enforcement procedures
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage caseloads and draft accurate legal documents
- Competence in Microsoft Office and data systems
- A flexible, adaptable approach and commitment to high standards
- A driving licence is desirable
