The Law Foundation of Silicon Valley is seeking a Community Health Advocate to join their Health Program. The role involves interviewing clients, gathering information, and providing legal information and referrals to community resources. The position requires strong interviewing skills, experience working with underrepresented communities, and a commitment to social justice and equity.
Requirements
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Vietnamese
- Strong interviewing skills and desire to interact with many people on a daily basis
- Experience with or general knowledge of issues affecting people with disabilities and low-income people
- Commitment to the rights of individuals with disabilities and low-income individuals
- Experience working with and/or sensitivity to underrepresented communities
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Understanding legal concepts and materials
- Ability to handle detail-oriented administrative tasks
- Ability to interact professionally with office staff and clients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to be flexible, multi-task and take direction from multiple sources
- Experience using Microsoft Office: Access, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 or similar, with openness to learning new tools
