Underwriter, Pittsburgh

This position involves reviewing and appraising applications for insurance placement, determining eligibility of risks, and interacting with companies and brokers via various channels.

Requirements

• Producer's License
• 3+ years of insurance experience
• Prior exposure to insurance underwriting type activities
• Basic familiarity with computers
• Good oral and written communications skills
• Strong analytical skills and attention to details
• Resourceful and controlled assertive behavior characteristics
• Demonstrated negotiation skills
• Technical knowledge of insurance coverage forms and their application to exposure
• Knowledge of departmental regulations and policies
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion
• Strong interpersonal skills working with staff and company underwriters
• Experience in standard underwriting practices and procedures
• Associated classes or courses and/or industry license, or designation
