Job Description
IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are looking for a Physicist with expertise in trapped-ion quantum computing to lead the system design, integration, and performance characterization of IonQ's next-generation trapped-ion quantum computers and the associated quantum networking infrastructure.
Requirements
- PhD in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) physics with expertise in quantum computing with trapped ions or neutral atoms
- Strong record of peer-reviewed publications in journals
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Expertise in quantum networking using trapped-ion quantum computers
- 3+ years post-PhD experience working in industry or national labs
- Proficient in developing RF trap waveforms for coherent shuttling of ions
- Engineering or systems engineering experience in transforming a complex physical system into a product
