The Kiln Operator is responsible for the operation of kilns, maintenance, and quality control in manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Startup of kiln and boiler systems
- Set up and operate kilns to accommodate new products
- Set up system to track drying performance and schedule efficiency
- Load and unload dry kilns in accordance with IFG quality standards
- Change kilns as required
- Follow procedures of spotter when loading/unloading kilns
- Fill out daily operator’s report
- Program and monitor computers
- Maintain dry kilns
- Clean up dry and green yards
- Maintain kiln carts
- Use roof caps as needed
- Abide by all IFG yarding, forklift, and quality policies
- Train kiln and forklift operators
- Shovel and/or plow snow and sand as needed
- Other assigned tasks or duties as directed by supervisor
