Zookeeper I, Aquatics

The Zookeeper I, Aquatics position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the animal husbandry and maintenance of animal enclosures at the Houston Zoo. The role involves carrying out daily animal care, maintaining exhibits and equipment, and participating in pest control and medication administration.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or two years of college level education in zoology, biology, animal husbandry or a related field
• One year of experience in animal care at an AZA or equivalent facility
• Experience with species in captivity, in a conservation setting
• Basic carpentry and mechanical skills
