Responsible for clerical duties, communication and reception duties on assigned nursing units. Provides general support to both clinical and non-clinical. Demonstrates appropriate population specific communication skills.

- Implements Downtime process and procedures including order interpretation and transcription as necessary
- Registers patients, assembles and disassembles charts in a timely manner, performs other clerical work according to unit guidelines
- Assists in the orientation of new employees
- Attends and participates in unit council and unit clerk meetings (70% attendance)
- Demonstrates awareness of need for self-growth by assessing strengths and weaknesses and establishing written goals
- Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate
- Follows hospital and nursing department policies and procedures during emergency or stressful situations including fire and disaster drills, and emergency situations
- Seeks supervision and guidance when appropriate
- Supports the philosophy of the hospital and of the department of nursing
