The Fraunhofer FHR is looking for a Scientific Employee to work on reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) in the context of 6G joint communication and sensing (JCAS). The position involves developing and implementing innovative concepts, electromagnetic simulation, optimization, and characterization of RIS structures, as well as design and construction of RIS prototypes.
Requirements
- An above-average completed scientific academic degree (master or diploma) in electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, physics, or a comparable field of study
- Fundamental knowledge of high-frequency technology, particularly in electromagnetic simulation (e.g. CST, HFSS, COMSOL)
- Experience in antenna design or the development of passive/active HF structures
- Programming knowledge in Python or MATLAB; knowledge in C/C++ is an advantage
- Interest in circuit design (analog/digital electronics) and PCB design with PCB design software (e.g. Altium Designer, KiCAD)
- Interest in 6G technologies, particularly in the integration of communication and radar systems
- Independent, structured work style, creativity, teamwork skills, and enjoyment of interdisciplinary research
- Very good English and German language skills in writing and speaking (C1-C2)
