Scientist in the field of optical fiber components

Fraunhofer is seeking a Scientist in the field of optical fiber components to develop, investigate, and optimize fiber components. The role involves working with materials and design processes, with research and application interfaces, and contributes to the advancement of optical fiber technologies. This position is part of the Laser Technology (LAS) department and offers opportunities for independent work and team collaboration.

Requirements

• Degree (diploma/master) in physics, electrical engineering or equivalent disciplines
• Knowledge and relevant professional experience in simulation techniques and programs to model modal structures and thermal effects in fibers (COMSOL Multiphysics, modal solvers, etc.)
• Knowledge and relevant professional experience in fiber preform manufacturing or fiber drawing and basic knowledge in fiber lasers would be of advantage.
