Head of School - Founding Role

Purpose Schools is launching its first Montessori microschool in Durham, NC. They are seeking a visionary Head of School to lead the design, launch, and growth of the campus. This is a part-time role for the initial design phase (Sept–Dec 2025) and a full-time role starting January 2026, with potential for equity partnership in the long term. The role involves co-designing the school, teaching, and leading daily operations, alongside community engagement and collaboration with other stakeholders.

Requirements

• 1+ year school leadership OR 5+ years classroom teaching
• Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, NAMC, or equivalent)
• First Aid/CPR (or ability to obtain before start date)
• Strong coaching and educator management skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Self-directed and entrepreneurial mindset
