East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP), founded in 1958, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing educational outcomes for students from Pre-K to college. Through after-school programs, public charter schools, and the College Scholars program, EHTP serves over 1,600 students annually, preparing them with academic skills, character strength, and emotional well-being. With a commitment to racial equity, EHTP fosters an environment where scholars learn to challenge systemic issues and thrive.
The East Harlem Teaching Residency is a 15-month program designed to prepare aspiring teachers in the East Harlem community. Residents will complete coursework in Childhood Education at Hunter College School of Education and receive support to become effective teachers in East Harlem Scholars Academies. This program focuses on antiracist teaching practices and academic equity in East Harlem.
